Wallop is looking for an Art Director to lead and develop all creative services in the company. The focus of this role is digital design across a range of marketing channels. But we are looking for a well rounded, muti-disciplinary designer who can also develop the branding side of our business and grow a team under them.


The Art Director will lead creative projects, maintaining high standards for design output across all marketing channels, leading and working closely with Project Managers, Digital Strategists, Copywriters, and Junior Designers. You are a clear communicator who can translate strategic business goals into strong marketing/creative assets that perform for the organization.


We want to meet candidates who are self-starters, creative leaders with a fluid approach to collaboration and feedback. We’d like to see portfolios that show strong conceptual skills with detail-oriented executions. We want to hear about projects you worked on that highlight your art/design direction skills as well as client and team management skills. We are a lean team supporting global brands, and you must be comfortable leading and doing the actual design work on a day-to-day basis.


Responsibilities


  • Creative Lead: Lead the creation of creative work from ideation through production. Develop and oversee the art direction and design language for everything from websites, brand, identity, print collateral, photography, social assets, and advertising. Present completed ideas to clients and team members.
  • Creative Strategy: Generate clear ideas and concepts based on business goals across various mediums and platforms. Produce sketches, storyboards, roughs to visualize ideas.
    Branding: Build the branding side of our business, and develop processes, templates, and workflows for brand development. Create and maintain brand guidelines, while exploring new ways to communicate the brand story for established brands. Many of our clients are very well established brands, who we work with in strengthening and building brand equity.
  • Design & Production: Design and produce digital design, graphics, logos, brand collateral, and advertising. Take work from concept to final execution.
  • Vendor Management: Brief and manage external vendors in the design and production of outsourced creative elements.


Qualifications


  • 4-6 years of design/art direction experience
  • Senior level experience creating brands and identity
  • Superior design and conceptual skills
  • Proficient in modern design tools like Sketch or Adobe
  • Excellent time management & organizational skills
  • Excellent communication & people skills
  • The ability to respond professionally to direction, constructive critique and client feedback

  • You’re team-oriented, willing to learn, can multitask and prioritize deliverables
  • Western time zone location is helpful though not mandatory
  • You’re comfortable working remotely and building relationships this way


Compensation


We'll pay you a good salary that's commensurate with your experience. We provide a flexible schedule, extended health, dental, and optional safely distanced office in Vancouver with snacks and coffee, a learning stipend, extended time-off during the holidays, and a great physical or digital work environment.
