We’re on the hunt for a skilled, well-rounded designer who is equally as adept at solving business problems through design as they are setting type. This role demands a strong conceptual thinker who can develop ideas and effectively communicate with clients and team members alike.


The fundamentals of good design is agnostic to medium, and we prefer a candidate who is well rounded. Your work should be crafted with purpose and utility, and you will be expected to present work regularly to the internal team and clients alike. The ability to articulate ideas and communicate directly with clients is paramount. We are looking for a person that looks at design holistically, uses it to solve real business problems, and is not bound by a single aesthetic or trend.


The primary responsibility of this role is to take the lead in the delivery of creative services for the company. You will be responsible for the execution of design work, but you will also take a lead in shaping our creative process, the presentation of our work, and make sure the creative work we do is at a very high standard.


You will be on our information gathering and discovery team, write creative summaries, assemble mood boards, build wireframes, design responsive websites, present work and collaborate with our developers. 


This is a good landing place if you have a passion for travel. Ideally, you would have an interest in, and a desire to develop expertise around the niche we operate in. You’ll work with some of the most unique, luxury travel products and stay in the most exclusive and travel destinations in the world. Your job will be to translate those experiences to the screen.


As Wallop has moved to remote-working, applicants do not need to be local to our Vancouver office, but do need to be able to work a schedule that overlaps with our core hours of 9am - 5:30-pm PST.


Required Skills


  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience designing for the screen
  • General familiarity with HTML and CSS (at the very least, a rudimentary understanding of how things work under the hood)
  • Ability to translate brand values, business/marketing goals, and demographic considerations into successful design solutions
  • Know your way around modern screen design software (Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, etc.) and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • An understanding of opportunities and limitations when designing for modern browsers and devices
  • A fundamental understanding of usability principles for the web, awareness of the opportunities and limitations of designing for the multiscreen world
  • The ability to articulate and present your design strategy and approach
  • Comfortable communicating with client teams, leading discussions on design, and translating needs into solutions
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Experience building working prototypes in tools like Invision Studio or Marvell
  • Contributing to the information architecture process using analytics data and best practices
  • Fundamental knowledge of usability and accessibility principles on the web
  • Ability to collaborate with our Digital Strategists to test, measure, iterate and use data to improve decision-making around design
  • Ability to collaborate with our Developers to create concepts that are compatible with our internal development frameworks

  • Western time zone location is helpful though not mandatory

Compensation


We'll pay you a good salary that's commensurate with your experience.
